What steps the government is taking to clean the Yamuna river in Delhi. Responding to the question asked in the Lok Sabha, the Ministry of Water Power said that not one such steps are being taken, through which the dirty drain can be prevented from falling into the Yamuna and Yamuna can also be cleaned.
The Union Ministry of Water Power said in its reply that several steps are being taken to clean the Yamuna in Delhi, the capital of the country. For example, the existing 3 sewage treatment plants which are in Kondli, Rithala and Yamuna Vihar are ready to resume. Also, preparations are being made to increase the working capacity of the sewage treatment plant present. Apart from this, there is a preparation to set up a new sewage treatment plant in Sonia Vihar as well as preparations to install interceptor on the drains so that it will be known how polluted the water falling in the Yamuna is.
Meeting with Delhi Pollution Control Board, Jal Board
The Ministry of Water Power has also stated in its reply that the Delhi Jal Board and the Delhi Pollution Control Board are constantly monitoring all the sewage treatment plant in Delhi. The Delhi Pollution Control Board is also constantly meeting with the Delhi Jal Board for cleaning the Yamuna. The Ministry of Water Power has also informed that the flood control department is continuously doing the work of dreging to remove the silt from Yamuna. In this regard, the Delhi government is also taking help of many experts.
In its resolution letter released for the Delhi elections, the BJP made the cleaning of Yamuna an important election issue. However, work on this was also started before the formation of the government and now at present, efforts are being made that the BJP has made the promise made in its resolution letter to be fulfilled and people can see the work being done on this side.
