As soon as President Donald Trump, along with Israel, considered the decision to attack Iran. The US military has taken several steps to strengthen its defense position in West Asia amid the ongoing tension between Tehran and Tel Aviv. Let us understand the military strength of the US here how their security cycle is getting stronger.
Open sources, according to US authorities and media reports, more than 15 distrient ships, cruisers, oil tankers, logistics ships and Carl Vinson Career Strike Group (CSG) are currently deployed in the Central Command (Central Command) areas, Arabian Sea and Red Sea.
According to USNI News, another career strike group, symbol of the power of the US Navy, has also been sent to West Asia. The ship tracking data suggests that CSG Nimitz (CVN-68) was in Malacca Strait in Malacca three days ago. Six more ships in the Mediterranean Sea, including two distrients, have been deployed to support Israel.
Steps taken to protect against Iranian attack
The US has also taken steps to secure its weak naval and air properties in the Persian Gulf. Satellite photographs suggest that the US has transferred unsafe fighter jets and aircraft from its largest airport in West Asia, Qatar’s Al Uddi Airport to safe places. In addition, the US-West joint naval base in Bahrain, called Naval Support Activity (NSA), has also been removed from there.
These military properties were removed from original places so that Iran’s possible attack could be avoided. Following the Israeli attack, Iran has threatened to attack the US forces as Washington Tel is constantly giving Aviv political, diplomatic and military support.
American soldiers in West Asia
The US is deploying more than 11,000 soldiers in West Asia. According to the Conventional Research Service (CRS), the US operates eight permanent and 11 temporary or rotational military bases in the region. By the year 2024, about 5,400 permanent American soldiers and more than 6,100 soldiers were deployed on rotational basis in Jordan and Saudi Arabia.
America always changes its military deployment according to the situation. For example, additional soldiers were sent when the ships were targeted by the Huti rebels of Yemen in the Red Sea. Then some non-essential personnel were withdrawn before the Israeli attacks earlier this month. Apart from these soldiers, thousands of other military are stationed on Career Strike Group (CSG) and other ships in the area.
What is a career strike group?
Career Strike Group (CSG) is a major part of American strength that has a firepower equal to air forces of many countries. It is powerful, dynamic, flexible, independent and durable that usually consists of about 7,500 sailors and marines. An aircraft carrier serves as a platform for flight operations and is the center of CSG.
A CSG consists of five different types of ships. A nuclear power -powered aircraft vessel, a logistics ship, a cruiser, distrient and an attacker submarine.
CSG ships usually have 66 aircraft and helicopters deployed including fighter jets, grovers for electronic war, Hawki for monitoring, C-2 Greyhounds and helicopters to bring goods from the coast.
The purpose of CSG is to gain and maintain control, sea and water, respond to crises and to protect the interests of the United States anywhere. It has written something similar in an infographic of the US Navy aircraft carrier Huntington England Industries.
Reason behind military deployment
The two career strike group being simultaneously in the area is unusual and it reflects the trump administration’s strategy to be prepared for any situation in the event of the Israeli-Iran struggle. This deployment has occurred at a time when there are indications that President Donald Trump is considering plans to attack some nuclear sites in Iran with Israel. When asked if he would order US forces to attack Iran, he said, ‘I can do it or not. Nobody knows what I will do.
The role of the US Army is important to destroy Iran’s Fordo underground nuclear enrichment facility, which has been promoted by the United Nations ‘Nuclear Watchdog, the United Nations’ Nuclear Watchdog, it has enhanced the uranium to 83.7 percent purity. This feature is located 80–90 meters below the surface in the mountainous region. To destroy this facility, the American B-2 Stealth Bomber will have to drop GBU-57A/B ‘Bunker Buster’ bombs.
