Congress spokesperson Supriya Srinet has reacted sharply to the resignation of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar. He said that it is not only a matter of Dhankhar’s conduct, but it is a matter of dignity of the post he handled. Srinet said that this is the first time in the history of India when an existing Vice President has resigned in the middle of his tenure. This is an unusual and unprecedented event. He said that the response of BJP and Prime Minister Modi clearly shows that this resignation was disrespectful and sudden. Due to this, the country is caught in an unnecessary constitutional crisis.
Congress accused – Attack on democratic institutions
Supriya Srinet accused the BJP of continuously weakening constitutional institutions. He wrote that after the first demonetisation, RBI Governor Urjit Patel’s resignation, then the resignation of Election Commissioner Ashok Lavasa and now the Vice President’s resignation – all these incidents give serious indications. Srinet said that lack of transparency in this whole matter is worrying and it is a bad sign for India’s democracy. Weakening institutions and avoiding questions has been formed by BJP.
