Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav has given a statement about the ongoing dispute in some states of the country regarding Indian languages on Saturday. He said that his party has always been in favor of honor of Indian languages. All Indian languages should get equal respect and the Uttar Pradesh government should release special budget for their promotion.
In fact, this remark of Akhilesh Yadav has come when Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) chief Uddhav Thackeray and his cousin and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray shared a platform after two decades on the issue of Marathi Asmita and Hindi imposing Hindi in Worli, Mumbai. This ‘Vijay rally’ was organized by the BJP government to commemorate the decision to withdraw the proposals related to Hindi language.

Akhilesh Yadav said in Lucknow, socialist ideology has been in favor of Indian languages since the beginning. We are also supporters of Hindi, but discrimination against other languages cannot be accepted in its name. Today technology has made a lot easy. The situation of linguistic discrimination like before is no longer. But some people are still raising this issue for political gains.
‘Dedicated budget for all Indian languages’
He also said that Uttar Pradesh should have a dedicated budget for all Indian languages. We want one floor to Jayaprakash Narayan International Center (JPNIC) for Marathi language, one Tamil, one Kannada and two floors for Urdu. With this, people coming here will be able to get acquainted with various cultures, customs, catering and costumes. For this, every state should cooperate and give sufficient budget.
Referring to the historical relations of Uttar Pradesh and Maratha society, Akhilesh Yadav said that even today, stories and heritage related to Marathas are present in Kanpur and Bithoor. He told that the museum whose name was earlier was the Mughal Museum, now it is being made in the name of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
‘Akhilesh Yadav taunted BJP’
He lashed out at the BJP and said, he says, ‘Hindi and Hindu’, but if this is the feeling then why are the rest of the Indian languages ignored? Thousands of crores of rupees should be spent in promoting these languages. Sometimes Marathi, sometimes Tamil, sometimes Kannada will increase business, mutual understanding and respect.
