DK Shivakumar on Big Karnataka Decision Backs Siddaramaiah Says 4 Percent Quota Not Only for Muslims

Dk shivakumar back siddaramaiah: In Karnataka, politics is at its peak about 4 percent quota case for Muslims. Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivkumar has supported Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on this issue. Congress opponents have described it as a step to please Muslims. This quota is not for jobs or education, but to bid for contractors up to Rs 1 crore for government projects.

DK Shivkumar has denied that 4 percent quota is only for Muslims. He told reporters in Hubli on Saturday (March 15, 2025) today, “4 percent of the quota is not only for Muslims, but for all minorities and backward classes.” Siddaramaiah announced reservation in government contracts in the State Budget 2025-26 on Friday (March 14, 2025) and allocated Rs 42,018 crore for the welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.

Siddaramaiah did not take the name of any community while making the announcement

The CM of Karnataka did not name any community in his speech, but Category 2B was included in the budget, especially Muslims. Siddaramaiah said, “Under the provisions of the Karnataka Public Purchase Transparency Act, the reservation given in the work to SC, ST, Category-I, IIA and Category-IIB contractors will be increased to Rs 2 crore.”

Reservation will be given in these categories

The transparency (KTPP) Act in Karnataka public procurement was amended today and approved. Now reservation of up to Rs 1 crore will be given to suppliers of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Category 2A and Category 2B in the purchase of goods and services under government departments, corporations and institutions.

Minority leaders requested to reserve 4 percent contract works for Muslims like reservation given for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Community. This was followed by a cabinet meeting under the leadership of Siddaramaiah, in which discussion was held regarding the bill.
