The Inter Continental Ballistic missile Agni-5 was successfully tested on 11 March 2024.

The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) is creating a new version of the Inter Continental Ballistic Missile Agni-5 (Agni-5). These missiles will destroy heavy bunkers and 80–100 meters in the ground and destroy the enemy’s nuclear system, radar system, control center, arms storage.

The old version of Agni-5 has a capacity to carry nuclear weapons up to 5 thousand kilometers. Its two new versions are being created, whose range will be 2500 km, but will have the capacity to carry 7500 kg bunker Buster Warhead. Which is more than the American GBU-57 bunker buster.

This achievement of DRDO will bring India equivalent to the ‘Bunker Buster’ bomb of the GBU-57 series weighing India 30 thousand pounds (13600 kg). The US dropped the bomb on Iran’s Fordo nuclear site on 21 June. Whose warhead is 2600 kg.

Work is going on on two new versions of Agni-5. The first will provide the facility of Airburst War Head for target above the ground. The second will be the missile going inside the ground, which will also be able to distinguish the concrete. That too more than GBU-57

Why is it necessary for India?

Since Operation Sindoor, India has been rapidly increasing the missiles that broke the bunkers of enemies. India-Pakistan tension, Iran-Israel War, is strengthening its defense system.

Pakistan and China have built hideouts under strong ground on their borders. This missile will play a big role in hilly areas, height areas. Near the border will destroy enemy command centers and weapons warehouses.

America’s GBU-57 bunker bomb- the world’s most powerful weapon

The US attacked Iran’s Fordo nuclear site on 21 June. In this attack, the US used the ‘bunker buster’ bombs of the GBU-57 series weighing 30,000 pounds for the first time. These bombs are specially designed to destroy deep bunkers and sites built under the ground.

US Army Chairman Lt Gen Dan Kane had said that it took 15 years to make these bombs. In 2009, when America came to know about Iran’s Fordo Site, they had no right weapon to destroy it. After this, the US developed these powerful bombs.

The US attacked 3 nuclear bases in Iran with a 7 B-2 bomber. The B-2 bomber dropped more than a dozen GBU-57 bunker buster bombs on the Fordo and Natanj site. GBU-57 is also called Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP), a bomb that can explode by penetrating 60 meters (200 feet) below the ground.

This bomb is specially designed to destroy deep bunkers and safe locations. Washington’s Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) Masao Dahgren had reported that the bomb had a thick steel layer, which can break inside by breaking the rocks and concrete. It also has a special fuse, which explodes at the right time even after heavy pressure and shocks. Read full news …
