Three Nordic capitals showed drones in the sky on Monday (September 22, 2025), after which these countries issued a security alert. Copenhagen Airport was kept closed for hours due to security reasons. Denmark Prime Minister Mete Frederickson feared that Russia may be behind it, so Moscow immediately opposed it.
According to Danish media, Northern Europe’s largest Copenhagen Airport, Kestroop was closed for several hours after reporting two to three large drones in the region. The route of more than 35 flights was changed after the Denmark Police started a large scale campaign.
Russia refuses to related to drone flights
Meanwhile, Russia has denied that it had any connection with the drone flights, due to which the Copenhagen Airport had to shut down its airspace for hours. While the Prime Minister of Denmark had said that she could not deny Russian involvement.
Kremlin spokesman Dimitri Peskov told reporters in a daily briefing, ‘We hear baseless allegations from there every time. Perhaps people who have taken a serious, responsible stance should not make such baseless allegations again and again.
Serious attack on NATO colleague
According to Danish Media House DR, Denmark Prime Minister Mete Frederickson said that she could not deny the possibility that Russia is behind the major disturbances caused by the drone blowing at Copenhagen Airport. He described it as a serious attack on the important infrastructure of NATO colleague.
Frederickson pointed out a similar drone incident at Oslo Airport in Norway on Monday and recent violations by Russia in Poland, Estonia and Romania airspace. According to a report by Denmark’s media DR, Fredericksson said in Danish language, “It should be seen in the context of every incident happening in Europe, yet we have not been able to reach any conclusion.”
