Taking a big decision, Delhi University (DU) has issued an order to open all its colleges and institutions from 8 am to 8 pm. The university administration says that the aim of this step is to use optimum use of resources. But, this decision is seeing resentment in the teacher class.
In this directive released on 31 July, it has been said that this decision was taken after deliberations in the Executive Council (EC) meeting held on July 12. This order has come at a time when the new session of the university is starting and for the first time students have entered the fourth year under the four -year undergraduate program (FYUP).
Decision taken after deliberation
In the directive of 31 July, it was said that this decision was taken after deliberations in the meeting of the Executive Council on 12 July. The order has come before the session, which includes students entering the fourth year under the four -year graduate program (FYUP) for the first time. This detail has increased concerns about infrastructure and lack of human power among faculty members. The notification states, “To achieve this goal and to ensure availability of faculty and employees during this period, the deployment of faculty and employees will be separated separately.”
Guest faculty will teach in college
It said that senior regular faculty members should be given the responsibility of teaching and guiding the students of the fourth year, and wherever necessary, the guest faculty will be hired. Rudrashish Chakraborty, Associate Professor of Kirodimal College, condemned the order. He said, “The program from 8 am to 8 pm of colleges has now received official approval from the university, which has been forced to adopt such rigorous, anti-teacher and anti-student notification.”
He said that in the order, teachers have been forced to work, “Even if there is no place for teachers to sit and work” and it has ignored the concerns related to the safety of teachers and students traveling at an odd -time. Abha Dev Habib, a faculty member of Miranda House, questioned the argument behind the order, which probably pushes the first year teaching to the guest or less experienced faculty. He said, “This is no way to welcome a new batch in a university or subject
