Santosh Mitra Square, based on the theme ‘Operation Sindoor’ theme, was inaugurated by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on 26 September. This puja pandal reminds of India’s cross border aircraft against terrorist camps in Pakistan and its occupied Kashmir after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir this year. Let us know that 26 civilians were shot dead by Pakistan -backed terrorists on April 22 in Basaron Valley of Pahalgam.
A day after the grand inauguration of this puja pandal, BJP councilor and Secretary of this puja committee Sajal Ghosh have made explosive allegations against Kolkata Police. He said in a conversation with Aaj Tak, ‘Kolkata Police is plotting and harassing the people associated with the Pooja Committee, so that this pandal can be closed. Because this year, like the last three years, record numbers are coming. Sajal Ghosh said that the police is putting barricades in the middle of the road and turning the crowd on the other side so that people cannot come to our puja pandal.
Santosh Mitra Square is one of the most famous and popular Durga Puja pandals in Kolkata. This puja pandal is famous for its unique theme every year and for the last three years, there is a huge crowd in the Durgotsav. This year, the theme of Durga Puja Pandal of Santosh Mitra Square is based on ‘Operation Sindoor’, while in 2023 the Ram temple of Ayodhya was displayed as the theme. BJP leader Sajal Ghosh, the main organizer of this puja pandal, said, ‘Our operation sindoor theme has become a headache for some people. Therefore, under political vengeance by the ruling party, the police is being used as a tool to close this pandal.
Notice sent to sound and light show company
Pooja Committee General Secretary and BJP Councilor Sajal Ghosh said that the purpose of making a pandal on the theme ‘Operation Sindoor’ is to awaken the spirit of patriotism and pay tribute to the armed forces. He said, ‘Operation vermilion is the voice of every Indian’s heart, which reflects the strength of our armed forces. Through this pandal, we wanted to pay tribute to our armed forces. This puja committee has so far received 4 letters from the local police station with several instructions and guidelines. This time, the police has issued a notice to Santosh Mitra Square Durga Puja Pandal’s sound and light show ‘AK Projecting’. The notice has been sent by Muchipara police station and several information has been sought from the company.
Sajal Ghosh claims that the local police station has sought a copy of the agreement with the license, GST document, sound limiter documents, organizers of the Sound and Light Show Company. The police have also demanded a permit of the company’s sound and light show. It has also been learned that the orders of the Calcutta High Court and Pollution Control Board have been mentioned in the police notice. This notice has been sent to AK Projecting of Rajasthan. This has started a new controversy. BJP councilor and general secretary of Durga Puja Committee Sajal Ghosh has accused the Kolkata police administration of non -cooperation. He said, ‘On the first day, the police kept one of our sponsors sitting at Muchipara police station for three hours. Today, he came from outside and sent a letter to the people working in the sound and light show. The police had given us permission for this pandal. Now we will decide whether it is possible for us to continue worship. If such a situation is created, then we will stop the lights of the pavilion if needed.
Police accused of plotting an accident
Sajal Ghosh said, ‘The conspiracy is fully ready so that there is an accident and then the puja committee can be convicted. Since our theme operation is vermilion, it is not digesting some people. The conspiracy that the government has hatched through the Kolkata Police is that the 40 -foot road should be closed from the guards and people should be forced to run from a 15 -foot road. Where the pandal can usually be reached by 700 meters, people are being forced to enter through separate roads of 3 to 3.5 kilometers through 15 feet barricades. BJP IT Cell Chief Amit Malviya targeted the Trinamool government and Kolkata Police on his X (East Twitter) handle.
The way the west Bengal government is making every posible effort to stop the Durga Puja at Santosh Mitra Square, Inaugurated this year by union home minister amit shah, is utterly shameful.

He said in a post, ‘The way the West Bengal government is making every effort to stop Durga Puja in Santosh Mitra Square, which was inaugurated by Union Home Minister Amit Shah this year is completely shameful. TMC -led Mamta government is hindering the worship of Maa Durga. Every step has been taken with the aim of depriving the people of India from their national pride, from trying to stop it before the worship of the puja starts, from the attempt to stop it from Operation Sindoor’s sound and light show. It is completely embarrassing people to join the celebration by putting barricades on the streets of Kolkata and prevent Hindus from worshiping Maa Durga. The situation has become so serious that the puja organizers are warning that if it continues, they may be forced to immerse the idol before Dashami. If such anti -Hindu functions are allowed in the heart of Kolkata on Indian earth, then the Mamta administration will have to face strong opposition.
Kolkata police dismissed allegations
At the same time, a Kolkata Police official said in a conversation with Aaj Tak on these allegations, ‘From Sealdah, which includes railway stations and metro stations, a crowd of about 70,000 to 80,000 people is coming to Durga Puja pandal of Santosh Mitra Square every hour. Since an audio-visual presentation of about 3 minutes is being run in front of the pandal, a large number of people are stopping to watch, take photos and record videos. As a result, there is a huge crowd for 3 minutes. Due to this, the police are having problems in controlling the crowd. Therefore, to manage the crowd and avoid serious accidents like stampede, we are putting barricades in some places and the crowd is being turned on another road. This is only for the safety of the public because the safety of the public is our first priority.
