Why can it be dangerous?
Scientists found that this fault is gradually accumulating pressure. In the last 26 lakh years, its two sides have slipped 1,000 meters. 75 meters in the last 1.36 lakh years. It moves a little bit every year. Now there is so much pressure that an earthquake of 7.5 magnitude may occur. This earthquake can come at any time, perhaps in our life. Scientist Theron Finley says that it is an old weak place, which accumulates the pressure of the earth and can suddenly burst.
How did this pressure come to know?
Scientists used satellite and lidar (which shows land by ignoring the forest). He saw high places on the ground, which are traces of old earthquakes. Snow marks showed that it had shaken 12,000 years, 1.32 lakh years and 26 lakh years ago. Now the pressure of 6 meters has accumulated, which is enough for the earthquake.

What a big danger?
This earthquake can damage small villages, such as Dawson City (where 1,600 people live). There is also a danger of landslides in mines and mountainous areas. But this area is already known for earthquakes, so the danger is not considered very large. Nevertheless, caution is necessary.
