Election Commission of India Actions on Rupp: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Thursday (June 26) issued a statement regarding the non-recognized political parties registered. The Election Commission said that it has started the process of removing 345 registered non-recognized political parties from the list. It includes all the parties that have failed to fulfill the necessary condition of contesting a single election in the last six years since 2019.
ECI This action has been done three to four times since 2001
The Election Commission said that the office of these political parties could not be found physically anywhere. The Commission further said that these 345 political parties are from various states and union territories across the country. The commission said that since 2001, the Election Commission has completed the process of abolishing the passive RUPP three to four times since 2001.
Supreme Court had banned, commission found another way
Earlier, the Supreme Court of the country had stopped the Election Commission of India from abolishing the recognition of political parties, saying that doing so is not prescribed under the law.
However, the Commission has discovered a way to remove parties from the list. A former commission official said that the parties removed from the list can be listed again without giving new recognition from the Election Authority.
There are 6 national and 67 state level recognized political parties in the country at this time
In addition to more than 2,800 Rupp in the country, there are six national and 67 state level recognized political parties. Officials said that it has come to the notice of the Commission that at present many such political parties of more than 2,800 APPs registered with the Commission have failed to fulfill the necessary conditions.
Commission took steps before Bihar assembly elections
This step has been taken by the Election Commission of India before the Bihar assembly elections. In such a situation, all the parties removed from the list cannot field their candidates in the election field to contest elections.
