Amira group scam: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has taken major action in the bank scam of Rs 1201.85 crore on Amira Group. The special PMLA court of New Delhi has taken cognizance of this case on 31 January 2025.
ED has given prosecution in New Delhi’s Special PMLA (PMLA) court on 06 December 2024 against Karan -e -Chanana, Radhika Chanana, Anita Dang, Amira Pure Foods Private Limited (M/S Amira Pure Foods Pvt. Ltd.) and others (PMLA) court of New Delhi on 06 December 2024 ( Prosecution Complaint was filed.
How did a scam of 1201 crore rupees?
The ED started investigation on the basis of FIR of CBI (CBI). Amira Group and its directors are accused of taking loans and embezzlement by cheating banks. The group of banks led by Canara Bank suffered a loss of Rs 1201.85 crore. The accused have been accused of fraud, criminal betrayal and bank loan rigging.
ED raids and assets worth 131.5 crores attached
Under PMMLA, 2002, several locations were conducted across the country. Undisclosed cash and several important documents of Rs 1.01 crore were seized. Assets worth Rs 131.5 crore were temporarily attached, including:
• Large plots in Karnal and Faridabad in Haryana.
• Luxurious houses in Delhi and Gurugram.
Two accused arrested, investigation is also being done abroad
On 08 October 2024, Aparna Puri and Rahul Sood were arrested in this case. Both the accused were the director and key managerial personnel of Amira Pure Foods Private Limited. The ED found that the loan amount was manipulated through fake (shell) companies. Investigation of the assets of the accused and their family in the UK and UAE also continues.
There may be more revelations in the investigation
The ED has said that the investigation of the case is still going on and people can be arrested and people can be arrested. Such scams that manipulating loans of banks weaken the country’s economic system. The ED has made it clear that strict action will continue in this matter and the culprits will not be spared.
