Ed action in money laundering: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed a prosecution complaint against Maa Bijasan Agro Infrastructure Warehouse and others under the Money Laundering Prevention Act (PMLA), 2002 in the special court of Bhopal. The ED filed this complaint on 28 February 2025, on which the PMLA court has taken cognizance. Now the legal process will proceed in this matter.
According to sources, Maa Bijasan Agro Infrastructure Warehouse and concerned people are accused of earning financial benefits in illegal ways and were involved in money laundering. The ED is investigating the matter deeply and further strict action can be taken.
What is the Money Laundering Prevention Act (PMLA)?
The Money Laundering Prevention Act (PMLA), 2002 aims to ban efforts to legalize illegally acquired assets and take strict action against the culprits. Under this law, there is a provision of seizing the property as well as severe punishment and heavy fine if found guilty.
ED’s increasing strictness
The ED has been taking rapid action on money laundering cases in recent years. Earlier, investigation and seizure action has been taken against many big companies and businessmen under PMMLA. Now that the special court of Bhopal has taken cognizance in this case, the difficulties of Maa Bijasan Agro Infrastructure Warehouse and other accused may increase. In the coming days, there is a possibility of new revelations and more strict steps from the ED.
Let me tell you that earlier Eid took action in a big case of corruption and money laundering and captured two luxurious houses located in Bhopal of Meenal Residency. These properties were said to be worth crores of rupees and more than income was related to the matter.
