The Enforcement Directorate (ED) Jalandhar Zonal Office arrested an accused named Akshay Kumar Chhabra on Wednesday (April 2, 2025) in a drug smuggling case. This arrest has been made under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). According to the Central Investigation Agency, Akshay Kumar Chhabra is accused of running an international drug smuggling racket.
This investigation of ED was started on the basis of the case registered by Narcotics Control Bureau Chandigarh Zonal Unit. ED investigation revealed that Akshay Chhabra was running an international drug syndicate from Ludhiana. He used to get drugs from Afghanistan and import them in the name of fake companies. After this, these drugs were further supplied.
Chhabra used to smuggle heroin through tomato-anar juice
The ED has taken the accused on remand from Dibrugarh jail. Akshay Kumar Chhabra is accused of smuggling heroin through tomato and pomegranate juice. Akshay Chhabra earned a huge amount of money from this illegal business, which was sent abroad through real estate, liquor business and hawala channels. The ED is also investigating the matter from the angle of Narco Terror.
Akshay Chhabra accused of running international drug smuggling racket
ED said that Akshay Chhabra is the mastermind of this syndicate. Earlier, on 30 October 2023, many locations were raided in this case. The Central Investigation Agency (ED) arrested Akshay Chhabra and produced it in the Special Court of Jalandhar, from where the court has sent the accused of running an international drug smuggling racket to a 5 -day custody. After getting the custody of Akshay Chhabra, the ED is now questioning him. However, ED investigation is still going on in the International Drug Syndicate case.
