Ed raided 7 places Jammu Varanasi Gurugram on IAS Rajeev Ranjan Disproportionate Assets Case Ann

Ed Action: Enforcement Directorate (ED) has taken major action against 2010 batch IAS officer Rajiv Ranjan in the case of disproportionate assets. The ED has raided 7 places including Jammu, Varanasi, Patna and Gurugram. During this time, the authorities have recovered several important documents and documents related to the properties.

Property worth crores seized in arms license case

Rajiv Ranjan is accused of acquiring disproportionate assets than his income. Earlier, in September 2022, the ED had seized assets worth Rs 4.69 crore from Rajiv Ranjan and other officers in the Arms license case. This property included bank accounts, plots and houses. During the investigation, it was found that these officials had earned money in exchange for illegally issuing arms licenses.

Action of Chandigarh Special Crime Branch

In the Arms license case, the CBI’s Chandigarh Special Crime Branch had approved action against the then Deputy Commissioners and others of Kupwara district. Government officials were accused that they used to take money from gun dealers and brokers to issue licenses directly in their bank accounts and in bank accounts of their family members. In this case, raids were conducted at many places in Jammu and Kashmir.

Action against government officials in cases of disproportionate assets is not new. Recently, the ACB raided against an engineer of PWD in Rajasthan in the disproportionate assets case, in which his known income was revealed by his known income. It is clear from such actions that agencies are active against corruption and are taking strict steps against the officials who have acquired illegal property.
