Referring to the Bengalis, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) criticized the Delhi Police on Sunday (August 3, 2025) for using the word Bangladeshi language and said that it is the official effort to snatch the identity of the constitutionally recognized language and portray millions of Bangla -speaking Indians as an outsider.
In a post on social media platform X, the Trinamool Congress shared a copy of a letter written by an inspector of Lodhi Colony police station to the officer -in -charge of Bang Bhawan in New Delhi, requesting the translator for Bangladeshi language.
Delhi Police demanded for language translator
The letter said, “Eight people were arrested during the investigation, who had a strong doubt of being a Bangladeshi citizen and who were illegally living in India without any valid passport or visa. Duspeated Bangladeshi citizens received copies of national identity card, birth certificate, bank account details etc.”
The inspector claimed that the identity documents have lessons written in Bangladeshi language, which are required to be translated into Hindi and English. He has requested to provide skilled official translator/interpreter in Bangladeshi national language.
TMC accused Union Home Minister
TMC said in the post on X, “Is there no limit to BJP’s hatred towards Bengalis?” After repeatedly harassing and detaining Bangla-speaking workers in BJP ruled states, the Delhi Police of Amit Shah (Union Home Minister) has now officially crossed all limits by calling our mother tongue Bangla officially as Bangladeshi language.
For Months Now, Bengali-Speaking People Have Been Targeted, Harassed and Detained Across BJP-Ruled States. Now, in a shocking escalation, @Delhipolice Has officially referred to Bangla, as a “Bangladeshi language” in an official letter.

CPI Male Liberation General Secretary Achol to Delhi Police
At the same time, CPI (Male) Liberation General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya also criticized the Delhi Police and said, “Torturing Bangla -speaking migrant workers as suspected Bangladeshi citizens, now India’s second most spoken language is now completely denied as Bangladeshi language.”
