Eid ul -da 2025: Today, the festival of Bakrid is being celebrated with great pomp across the country. Bakrid is also known as Eid-ul-Azha, Eid ul Juha, or Eid ul Bakra. This festival is considered a symbol of renunciation and humanity. In the religion of Islam, it is also called ‘Festival of Sacrifice’ i.e. ‘festival of sacrifice’.
According to the Islamic calendar, every year’s Eid date is based on the status of the moon. Eid-ul-Azha is celebrated on the 10th of Zulhija, which comes 70 days after the end of Ramadan.
What is the importance of Eid-ul-Azha?
The story of Eid-ul-Azha is associated with Hazrat Ibrahim, in which he agreed to sacrifice his son Hazrat Ismail on the orders of Allah. But, Khuda gave him an animal. Therefore, a goat, sheep or other animal are sacrificed on this day. The most important ritual on Bakrid is ‘Kurbani’. Through this sacrifice, this message is given that the passion to sacrifice anything in the path of Allah should be kept.
Why is the sacrifice given?
Eid-ul-Azha is celebrated in memory of the sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim. On this day, people of Islam sacrifice an animal. In Islam, sacrifice is considered justified only by the money earned in the way of halal. The meat of sacrifice cannot be kept alone for his family. Three parts of it are done. The first part is for the poor. The second part is for friends and relatives and the third part is for your home.
How is the animal sacrificed?
In Islam, the sacrifice of such animals is considered justified which are healthy. If the animal has any kind of disease or discomfort, then Allah does not agree with the sacrifice of such an animal.
Eid-ul-Azha traditions
Eid-ul-Azha means Bakrid is not just a religious festival, but also a symbol of happiness, interaction and humanity. In many countries including India, the day of Bakrid begins with Eid prayers. People wear new clothes on this day, call each other ‘Eid Mubarak’ and distribute gifts and sweets. Also, the poor are donated on the occasion of Eid. While Saudi Arabia celebrates Bakrid a day earlier, this festival is usually celebrated a day later in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Malaysia.
