India’s two -time Olympian Elavenil Valarivan won the gold medal at the women’s 10m air rifle event on the fifth day of the 16th Asian Shooting Championship held at Shimkant Shooting Plaza in Kazakhstan. Elvenil and Mehuli Ghosh qualified for the final In the qualification round before the final, Elvenil scored 630.7 and Mehuli scored the seventh and eighth position respectively. The two won the team bronze medal with a total score of 1891 in association with Ananya Naidu (630.0). In this event, China won Gold and Korea won the silver medal.
India dominates junior women’s air rifle In the 10m air rifle of junior women, trio of India’s Shambhavi Kshirsagar, Hridayya Shri Kondur and Isha Anil Tussale won the team gold medal with a score of 1896.2. This score is the World and Asian record, which was 11.3 points better than the second -ranked Chinese team. However, in the singles final, Shambhavi finished fifth with 186.3, sixth with Isha 165.2 and Hridaya with 143.2.

Bronze in skeet mixed team At the Skit Mixed Team event, India’s Abhay Singh Sekhon (65) and Ganmat Sekhon (73) scored a second bronze medal by scoring 138 in qualification. He was competed with Kuwait’s 62 -year -old veteran shooter Abdullah Alrashidi and Afrah Almohammad. The Indian pair won 39–37 in this 48 shots match.
