The Central Election Commission (ECI) has taken a decisive step to increase transparency and accountability in the electoral system and canceled the recognition of 334 political parties. Now the number of unwanted parties registered in the country has come down to 2,520, while earlier this figure was 2,854.
According to sources in the Election Commission, the reason for the removal of these parties has either been absent in political activities, or not to submit compulsory details in accordance with the rules. In some cases, there has also been a serious lapse in filing financial transparency and statutory returns, after which the decision has been taken by the Commission.
Now you will not get these benefits
The Election Commission has delisted these parties. Now these parties will not be able to use election symbols. Also, they will not get special facilities available in income tax and election campaign. The Commission has said that the Delisted parties will not be entitled to any electoral benefits under the RP Act and other related laws.
The Election Commission says that this step is part of his electoral purity mission, under which organizations who violate fake, passive or rules are taken out of the registered list. The Election Commission has made it clear that the role of political parties is important in democracy, but it is necessary to be operated under complete transparency and legal standards. Along with this, according to the official information of the Election Commission, 6 national parties and 67 state-level parties are recognized at present.
