Bihar has assembly elections in October-November this year. Special intensive revision continues here.
After the Election Commission (EC) Bihar, it is now going to conduct a special intensive revision (SIR) across the country. Under this, the voter list is thoroughly examined and updated. It can start from August.
EC has activated its election machinery in all states. This decision of the Commission came on permission to continue the Special Intensive Revision in Bihar on July 10 by the Supreme Court. The court described it as constitutional.
However, many opposition parties and people are against this revision. SC has also challenged. It is claimed that qualified citizens will be deprived of their franchise due to special intensive revision.
According to the Election Commission official, the Election Authority will take a final decision on SIR after July 28. Because the case of Bihar Special Intensive Revision is to be heard again in the Supreme Court.
At the same time, the Chief Election Officer of some states has also started releasing the published voter list after the previous SIR in his states.
2008 voter list of Delhi CEO website available
- The 2008 voter list is available on the Delhi CEO website, when the last special intensive revision took place in Delhi. The last Special Intensive Revision in Uttarakhand took place in 2006. The then voter list is available on the CEO website of the state.
- The last special innovation in the states will serve as a cut off date, as the Election Commission of Bihar is using the 2003 voter list for the Special Intensive Revision. Most states amended the voter list between 2002 and 2004.
People of Nepal-Bangladesh in Bihar’s voter list
Voter list verification work is going on in Bihar. Meanwhile, Election Commission (EC) officials claim that there are large number of foreigners in Bihar. EC officials told the news agency, ‘We visited door-to-door for the voter list revision. During this time we have met a large number of people from Nepal, Bangladesh and Myanmar.
According to EC officials, ‘such people will be investigated after 1 August. The names of illegal migrants will not be included in the last voter list to be published on 30 September. The work of voter list verification started on 24 June and is the last date to submit the calculation form by 25 July 2025. The work of depositing voter calculation form has reached the final stage.
