Elephants are being fed to protect against heat … Special Treatment available in Care Center in Mathura

The heat in North India has caused tremendous havoc, but special arrangements have been made for the rescuing elephants living at the ‘Elephant Conservation and Care Center’ (ECCC) in Mathura. Here these organisms are being given cold fruits, mud baths, water spraying and ORS to give relief to these organisms.

According to the agency, this center was established in the year 2010 by the institution of ‘Wildlife SOS’ in collaboration with Uttar Pradesh Forest Department. Currently there are 32 elephants, many of which are either blind or unable to move. In view of their condition, they need special care in summer.

Karthik Satyanarayana, CEO of Wildlife SOS, said that it is very important to keep elephants hydrated in this scorching heat, so they are being given ORS daily. Since these elephants have been rescued and many need special care, our responsibility increases even more.

Elephant enclosures in ECC are designed in such a way that they look like their natural environment. Every enclosure has a pool and mud pile (mound), where elephants enjoy the mud bath. Mud bath helps in controlling their body temperature and prevents heat.

Apart from this, water sprinkler has also been installed in elephant enclosures to relieve heat. They are given cold and water -rich fruits like watermelon, cucumber, papaya many times a day, so that their body remains cold. CEO Satyanarayana says that these elephants can no longer survive in the forest, so we are trying to give them an atmosphere that is safe, natural and relaxed for them.
