Mohanlal starrer L2: Empuraan has been released on 27 March. The film will also have Manju Warrior with the superstar of Malayalam cinema. The film has been directed by popular actor Prithviraj Sukumaran. In an exclusive conversation with Aaj Tak, Mohanlal spoke on his experience.
Mohanlal’s film has such a craze that it was announced till the holiday on the day of release in Bengaluru. On this, Mohanlal himself told that one or two offices are thinking of doing so. I thank the institute who announced a holiday in Bengaluru.
The deal of three films was already decided
Prithviraj Sukumaran said that it is obvious that this is a craze because of Lucifer’s success. But this sequel has not been made because Part 1 was such a big hit. When we did this world in 2016-17, we knew that we had to create an arch of at least 3 films, so that the story could be fully justified. And to be honest, then it was not even this, I do not know that there must have been a universe creation of Bahubali. But yes, now that Part 1 had become such a big hit, we have become a liberty, to make Part 2.
Did Mohanlal suffer the problem in Prithviraj’s direction?
Mohanlal told that L2: We are also releasing the film in many different cities like Botswana, Poland. With this, when he was questioned on working under Prithviraj’s direction, he said, if I am committed for a film, then there is nothing like senior junior. Prithviraj is my director. We have worked together before, two are of films. If we know each other, then we know how to keep pace. He is very perfect in his work, we have worked in a very beautiful film. We have no problem working together.
Actresses get equal rights in Malayalam cinema?
Manju Warrior, who was present with Mohanlal, also talked to Aaj Tak and talked about the importance of female actress in Malayalam cinema. He said that I definitely consider it to be Previlgery that actresses are given the same importance as the rest of the actors. It has also been a pride to connect with a film like D The Lucifer. The story of this film, working with the Great team, played a character who was one of the strongest characters of my career. If you call it luck, I would say yes I am blessed.
Prithviraj Sukumaran crossed the limits to make this film
It took Prithviraj Sukumaran two years to find the location of the film. He had a knee surgery recently, despite this he worked in a minus degree temperature. Talking at the deficiencing level in the shooting of the film, he said that we never thought of doing give-up or quit. Because when he was planning the film, it was only a matter of guess that we are going to make a film which can be the dream of the whole industry. There are many people in Kerala who are waiting for this film to stop their breath, we will know its potential on 27 March. Many new paths will open from this film, so having a knee surgery does not matter, even if my leg was cut, he would have gone.
Mohanlal and Prithviraj did L2 without salary: Emaparan?
Also, Mohanlal and Prithviraj told that there is no talk of charging fees for this film. When we started planning, it was like a business proposal. Many people did not believe, many had. Now that the trend of advance booking is coming out, it seems that yes we have an owner. The last thing for which we will be upset is salary. If this film works, no one can stop success.
Mohanlal talks on stardom
Mohanlal is a superstar of Malayalam cinema, he started his career 47 years ago, but his fire remains intact even today. Mohanlal said- I am an actor. You can call me a superstar, all these are one title that people have given. It is a matter of luck to do good movies, working with directors, with good colleges. I have found all this in my 47 -year career. Now you call it stardom or call it my good energy, I consider myself an actor. When you write megastar, superstar, gold star, these are creed names. I can’t tell how you can create your stardom. I can just answer, I had good people, directors, then people have to understand themselves.
Stardom still persists today
Mohanlal further said- If I also say that it is fine, do good films, this is not an advice. You have to dream for this, it will have to achieve it. You have to pray, you should be on fire. For example, as much energy will be in my upcoming film L2: Empuraan, the same fire even when I did my first film. I go on the set even today by the same energy. You should have that commitment in you. You can create an actor, but only you can decide how to give shape. It is like a secret, it is better to keep it secret.
Mohanlal has never been on the pressure to make six pack abs?
The actor never remained in the race to become a hero with six pack abs or a tuff feasic Hartthrobe. He has won the hearts of crores of people with his natural looks. Mohanlal told Aaj Tak in a conversation that ever film makers put pressure on him to make six pack abs?
Mohanlal said- I was accepted like this from the beginning. I have never put a pressure to make any abs. There is no such thing as a six pack abs for an actor, if you are doing a common man film, then there is no need for him. But yes you need to keep your body fit for acting. Six pack is not required. This will not make a better actor. Acting is a very good meditation, very beautiful one is a relief, culture. This is the base. It is necessary for an actor to exercise, so that he is fit.
