Highlights
- England changed their team for the fifth Test.
- 31 -year -old Jamie Overton was included in the team.
- India-England fifth Test is to be played from 31 July.
In the fourth Test against India, England bowlers threw 257.1 overs in two innings. Captain Ben Stokes, after the match, believed that freshness could be needed in the team. Ben Stokes said, ‘If you will see how long we have been in the field and how many overs have been thrown as a bowling unit, then everyone is quite tired. Everyone is tired when we go to the last match of the series. Therefore everyone will be assessed. Hopefully we will be correct after the rest of the next two-three days. After this, the right decision will have to be taken.
England have mostly kept the same bowling attack in four Tests so far. Jofra Archer replaced Josh Tung after two matches and Liam Dawson was replaced by injured Shoaib Bashir. But Chris Woakes, Bardon Cars and Stokes have played all four Test matches of the series. Chris Woakes has thrown the most overs (167) among both teams. Briden Cars (155) and Stokes (140) are also not behind. Archer has returned to Test cricket after four years. Therefore, England is worried about their workload.
England team for fifth Test: Ben Stokes (Captain), Jack Crolye, Ben Docket, Harry Brook, Oli Pope, Joe Root, Jamie Smith, Brideon Cars, Gas Atkinson, Jofra Archer, Chris Vox, Liam Dawson, Jamie Overton, Jacob Bethle, Josh Tung.
