England Playing XI for 1st T20I VS India: England team has announced its team for the first T20 match against India. This match is to be held on 22 January at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
England announced the team on Wednesday, a day before the match. Lancashire’s Phil Salt will do wicketkeeping for the first T20 match against India starting at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. He will open the batting with Ben Duckett of Nottinghamshire. Whereas captain Jos Buttler will bat at number three. Apart from this, fast bowlers Joffra Archer and Mark Wood have also got a place in the playing 11.
Joffra Archer last represented England in T20 on Indian soil on 20 March 2021. In such a situation, he is coming to Indian soil to play cricket after about 4 years. He can become a problem for the Indian team with his fast balls.

Suryakumar Yadav will captain the team in the T20 series. While Akshar Patel has been made the vice-captain for this series. Experienced fast bowler Mohammed Shami has also been included in the team. Shami was away from action after the 2023 ODI World Cup.
34-year-old Mohammed Shami has returned to the Indian team after almost 14 months. Shami had undergone surgery after the 2023 World Cup. Shami also missed the recent Australia tour due to swelling in his left knee. The selectors have chosen Dhruv Jurel as the second wicketkeeper for this T20 series. Whereas Sanju Samson is a part of the team as the first choice wicketkeeper.

Dhruv Jurel has been included in place of Jitesh Sharma, who was part of the T20 team on the South Africa tour. All-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has also been included in the team in place of Ramandeep Singh. Nitish could not be a part of the team in the South Africa series in view of the Australia tour. On the other hand, all-rounder Shivam Dubey was also not successful in making a place in the T20 team. Riyan Parag could not be a part of the team due to injury.
