After this, Australia made a comeback and took a 2-1 lead. India faced defeat by 10 wickets in Adelaide while losing the Boxing Day Test by 184 runs. If reports are to be believed, after this defeat, coach Gautam Gambhir had organized a class for the players in the dressing room.
India coach Gautam Gambhir reprimanded the players for their careless cricket after the defeat in Melbourne. According to the Indian Express, he said, “Enough is enough.” The coach was angry at the Indian team for not implementing the plan made properly on the field. India lost the wickets of Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli early in the first session. Virat Kohli was out on the fifth day in Melbourne while trying to hit a shot on the outgoing ball. Rishabh Pant also did not understand the value of his wicket and was caught out on the boundary off the ball of part-timer Travis Head.
According to sources, Gambhir told the players that he had allowed them to play as per their wish but now he himself will decide the way the team plays. He said that players who do not implement the plan made before the match will be shown the way out of the team.
