Eu on Trump Zelensky Dispute: The European Union Commissioner Andreas Kubilius criticized the Trump administration over the recent dispute between Donald Trump and Volodimir Jailonsci. He said that such behavior with the President of a struggling country like Ukraine is unacceptable.
In an interview to news channel NDTV on Saturday (March 01, 2025), the European Union Defense and Space Commissioner Kubilius said, “Ukraine is struggling for his existence and it is not right to humiliate him in this way. The European Union President Ursula von Der Leyen and other European leaders have made it clear that Ukrain is not alone.” He also stated that the European Union’s military and financial support was 30% higher than the US.
‘Reducing Ukraine support for China’
Kubilius warned that China can take advantage of it if the US and the European Union reduces Ukraine’s support. “If the West fails in Ukraine and Russia wins, China will see that the international community is weak. It can promote aggressive policies in Taiwan or other regions.”
Strategic cooperation between India and European Union
Kubilius described India as the most important power of the 21st century and said that the European Union wants to complete the free trade agreement with India as soon as possible. He met Defense Minister Jitendra Singh and ISRO officials and discussed joint defense and space projects. The European Union offered to develop a strategic defense treaty with India, as it had done with Japan and South Korea.
Space and defense cooperation
Kubilius said that India’s defense production capacity can be useful for Europe. He appreciated India’s goal of sending humans to the Moon by 2040 and expressed the possibility of joint projects in space.
The European Union Commissioner Kubilius clarified that supporting Ukraine is necessary not only for the safety of Europe but the whole world. Describing India as the superpower of the future, he emphasized on strengthening space and defense cooperation.
