Factories manufacturing fake desi ghee in the name of Patanjali, Amul and Paras have been busted in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. Fake ghee was being supplied in the name of the brand in all the big cities of North India. Ghee was being prepared by mixing urea and other dangerous chemicals. The accused were committing this fraud by putting stickers of 18 big brands.

Fake ghee with palm oil and urea

This fake ghee was being sent to Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Jammu Kashmir and Uttarakhand. Harmful substances like essence (fragrance used in food), palm oil and urea were mixed in making fake ghee. The police raided the factory and recovered about 2500 kg of raw material and fake ghee. Along with the police, the Food Department team was also on the spot. At present the team has sent the samples of fake ghee for testing.

Different work in three factories

In fact, on January 2, the police received information that three illegal factories making fake ghee were operating in the Tajganj police station area. On information, ACP Sadar Vinayak Bhosale, ACP Taj Security Arib Ahmed and surveillance team conducted a joint raid. During the action, it was learned that all three factories were registered in the name of ‘Shyam Agro’. This factory is said to belong to Neeraj Aggarwal of Gwalior. According to the police, the accused used to make fake ghee in the first factory while the raw material of fake ghee was kept in the second factory. Stock of fake ghee made in the third factory was kept. From here, ghee was supplied to cities of different states.

18 big brand stickers found from factory

Deputy Commissioner of Police, City Suraj Kumar Rai said that information was received that a huge quantity of fake ghee was kept in an illegal factory located in Tajganj, in which furniture was found. Stickers of 18 different brands have also been found from the factory. Also there is the packaging material of the brand. Factory packaged ghee contains excessive amounts of essence, palm oil, urea and various types of refined oils, vegetable ghee. At the time of the police raid, four laborers and a manager were seen working there. During interrogation, the manager told that ‘a person from Gwalior runs this unit. Under his instructions, fake ghee was being made here. This ghee is supplied to all the big cities of North India.

50 tins of fake ghee sent to Meerut by truck

DCP said that the places where fake ghee was being supplied are also being investigated. Strict action will be taken against everyone involved in this. Section 111 of the Indian Justice Code is being imposed on the culprits.

DCP also informed that on Thursday, 50 tins of fake ghee prepared in the name of a big brand from the factory was sent to Meerut by truck. As soon as this information was received, a police team started tracking the truck. DCP said that during interrogation, the manager told that the owner of the three factories has three B firms which are registered in Madhya Pradesh. Those firms also had expired goods which were manufactured through these factories and released in the markets. At present, the estimated price of fake ghee is being assessed.
