Former national selector MSK Prasad quoted PTI as saying, “My captain Jasprit Bumrah will be proved as he has already proved himself as a leader. As far as my vice-captain is concerned, I would like to let Shubman Gill get some experiences as Bumrah’s deputy.
Former national selector Deong Gandhi said, “If you do not consider Bumrah for leadership for captaincy, then it will be wrong. As far as the deputy of Bumrah is concerned, it is time that Rishabh Pant is shown because he has the best test average in the current set-up. I will take six experts in the UK, knowing that I have a lot of back-ups for the series of five matches.”
Former national selector Jatin Paranjpe said, “There is no more ideal than Jaspreet Bumrah to lead the national team in the Test. My vice-captains will be Rishabh Pant, who have a good record in SENA countries. Pant and KL Rahul are two batsmen who have scored two Test centuries on England land on the previous tour.”
