Uttar Pradesh Police on Sunday arrested a person from Varanasi, who used to cheat with women as an army officer. He also made a fake matrimonial profile of his army officer, showing himself an army officer. According to the police, he has cheated more than 25 women so far. Varanasi Deputy Police Commissioner (Crime) Saravanan Thangmani said that the accused had cheated these women for Rs 40 lakh and was cheating them for the last six years. He has been identified as Dayali Uppal, who is a resident of NTPC police station area of Pedapalli district of Telangana.

DCP (Crime) Thangmani said in the press briefing, “In Chitipur, police station of Varanasi Commissionerate, we arrested a suspected person named Dayali Uppal, a resident of Pedapalli district of Telangana. We came to know that she has cheated more than 25 women by making fake matrimonial profiles and has cheated by these women for Rs 40 lakh and he had been doing so for the last six years. He further said, ‘We have recovered army uniforms from the accused. He also has a fake nameplate named Major Amit and Major Joseph. Apart from this, we have also received some fake identity cards of Central Police Forces (CAPF) including the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Territorial Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police.

Army’s fake ID, medal and badge recovered

The police also recovered printing papers used to make fake identity cards. He also married three women, calling himself an officer of the army. The police took this action on the complaint of a woman from Chandauli district, who is currently living in Varanasi. According to the woman, the accused married herself as an army officer. When the woman asked for the necessary documents to register the marriage, the accused was not ready. After this, the woman complained against her to the Varanasi police, while taking action on which the police arrested the accused Dayali Uppal.

Fake proofiles on matrimonial site

An FIR has been lodged against the accused Dayali Uppal at Chitipur Police Station in Varanasi under Section 115 (2), 351 (2), 318 (4), 319 (2), 338, 336 (3), 204, 205, 235 and 6. During interrogation, accused Daali Uppal said that he used to contact different girls through the matrimonial site and was in love by saying that he was an army officer and took a hefty amount from him. The accused told the Varanasi police, ‘I implicated the woman who complained in her love trap through a matrimonial site. I told him that I am an army officer and my name is Joseph.

Fake marriage was done by implicating bank officer

I married her about five years ago. After marriage, I and the woman who complained started living together. So far I have taken about 6 lakh rupees from him. He is an officer in the bank. When she was not at home, I used to talk to other girls. He further said, ‘I am in touch with about twenty five girls from various states like Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Punjab, Uttarakhand and West Bengal. I have also taken money from them. I had discovered the identity cards of army officers on the Internet and with the help of the printer myself made fake identity cards. With their help, I could easily get girls into my love trap.

Army ID cards made with different names

He told that to influence the girls, he made fake identity cards of army uniforms, medals, fake name plates, army, NIA, Jammu and Kashmir Police, Territorial Army and also bought a fake pistol. So that no one suspects that he is not in the army. Dayali Uppal told the police, ‘I used to talk to different girls with different fake names and meet them. That is why I had made fake identity cards with different names. I confess my crime and apologize for my mistake again and again.
