Senior Inspector of MBVV Police Sushil Kumar Shinde said that the arrest was made after the complaint of two youths, who returned to India by paying 6-6 lakh rupees to avoid atrocities and cybercrime abroad. Both the victims told the police in detail that they were sent to Thailand in August 2025 by pretending to have a job. But from there, it was taken to Myanmar and was taken captive.

Both youths were forced to work for a company called UU8 in Myanmar. It was being managed by Chinese citizens Leo and Indian Steve Anna. They were trained to create fake Facebook profiles in the name of Indian women and to implicate foreign Indians in cryptocurrency-bitCoine investment. If a victim did not cooperate with those people, they were tortured.

Both those youths were asked for 6 lakh rupees in lieu of their release. Those money was transferred to five different Indian bank accounts. A few days ago, both returned to India and contacted the police. After receiving the complaint in this case, the police started investigation after registering the case under the relevant sections of the Indian Justice Code and the IT Act. During this, the accused were detected.

After this, a police team arrested the main accused Asif Khan from Meera Road. On his spot, his colleague Rohit Kumar Mardana was arrested from Surat. A police officer said that efforts are being made to find out the source of the cheated amount. A detailed investigation is being done to identify other operatives of this gang involved in India and abroad.
