Police arrested the party’s district secretary Mathiajagan in a stampede case at the Tamilga Vetri Kajgam (TVK) rally in Karur, Tamil Nadu. The police had registered an FIR against three TVK leaders, Mathiajhagan, Bushi Anand and CTR Nirmal Kumar.

During Vijay’s election rally on the night of 27 September in Karur, Tamil Nadu, 41 people were killed and around 80 people were injured in a stampede. According to the FIR, the police had warned Mathiajhagan, Bushi Anand and CTR Nirmal Kumar that the situation was becoming uncontrollable due to the crowd, causing suffocation and physical damage. It is alleged that TV leaders did not control the workers properly, due to which the situation became uncontrollable.
Government gave compensation to the families of the dead
According to District Collector M Thangvel, 41 people died in this incident, including 18 women, 13 men, 5 boys and 5 girls. The bodies of the deceased were handed over to their families after the post -mortem. The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the families of the deceased and Rs 1 lakh to the injured. PM Modi announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh from the PM Relief Fund to the families of those killed in the tragic incident during the political rally in Karur, Tamil Nadu.
The Chief Minister has also ordered to set up a Judicial Inquiry Commission for a detailed investigation into this accident. This commission will be led by the Retired Justice Aruna Jagdishan of the High Court. The Commission has been asked to fully investigate the incident and submit the report to the government.
These allegations against actor Vijay
The FIR states that actor Vijay had reached the border of Karur district at 4:45 pm, but deliberately delayed the rally site. It said that the conditions fixed for the road show were not followed, which caused the police inconvenience in traffic management.
