The police resorted to lathicharge to control the crowd.

Chief Minister M.K. Stalin described the incident as ‘serious and worrying’. He ordered immediate medical facilities to provide medical facilities and inquired about the situation from ministers and officials. Stalin has instructed Health Minister Subramanian and Minister Ambil Mahesh to expedite the relief work. CM will go to Karur on Sunday and review the situation.
