Addressing a press conference on Friday morning, Japan’s Justice Minister Kesuke Suzuki said that he signed the order of hanging with great thoughts on this decision.

He said, “This case happened due to very selfish objectives such as sexual and money greed, in which 9 people lost their lives in two months. This created an atmosphere of fear and anxiety in the whole society. I understand that it is a particularly heartbreaking case for both the victims and their families.”

Shirashi arrested in 2017

Suzuki said that the hanging was ordered only after the entire legal process and discussion. According to local media, Shairshi was arrested in 2017, when the bodies of 1 male and 8 women were recovered from her apartment. This apartment was in Jama city of Kanagawa province, which is south of Tokyo.

In 2020, Tokyo district court sentenced Shairshi to death. The court said that this crime was very disgusting, because he killed 9 people, cutting their bodies and kept hiding in the apartment. The decision was later finalized in 2021.

How did it target?

According to the court’s decision, Shaishi targeted 1 male and 8 women between the ages of 15 and 26, who were talking about suicide on social media. The court also made it clear that these 9 people did not give any consent to their murder and the claim of the accused to be mentally unwell was also considered wrong.
