A gang rape incident has come to light at South Calcutta Law College, Kolkata. A 24 -year -old student studying in college has accused three people of gangrape. The main accused Manjit Mishra is an alumnus of South Kolkata Law College, along with two current students, on 25 June, the incident carried out the incident. A senior Kolkata Police official said that the medical examination has confirmed the allegation of gang rape of the student.
According to the news agency PTI, the first year student of South Calcutta Law College lodged a complaint that on June 25, he was gang -raped by an alumni of the college and two current senior students. On Thursday, the three accused were arrested and medical examination of the victim was also conducted on the same day.
The police officer said that the medical report has found evidence of forcibly making physical relations, bite marks on the body and scratching with nails. In response to a question, he said that the main accused who is an alumnus of the college and a practice criminal lawyer raped, while the other two were guarding outside the room.

Chief government prosecutor Sorin Ghoshal said that according to a decision of the Supreme Court, if a person also rapes a gang rape incident, but the rest of the people provide assistance to him or have a common intention with him, then they are equally guilty. Therefore, it is a case of gang rape, and all three are accused in this case.
Police inspected the spot
Kolkata Police Commissioner Manoj Verma and Joint CP (Crime) Rupesh Kumar himself reached Kasba police station and also inspected the spot. He went to South Calcutta Law College and monitored the matter in depth investigation.
The culprits should get strict punishment: Kalyan Banerjee
TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee said that such incidents are very shameful and the culprits should be punished strictly. However, he also said that when a friend commits a crime with his own friend, how can the police stay in every school or college?

All three accused arrested within 12 hours
There has also been a response from the state government regarding this matter. West Bengal minister Shashi Panja said that as soon as the police received the complaint, the three accused were arrested within 12 hours. The victim’s statement has been recorded and her treatment is going on. He made it clear that the state government and the police are taking this matter very seriously and there should be no politics in such cases. Shashi Panja also said that even if there is any connection with the names, religion, caste or organization of the accused, the law is the same for all. He also clarified that the accused who are being linked to the TMC Students Council have no relation with any official organization, because the last student union in the college was formed in 2022 and they did not have their name. Seeing the leaders in the photo is not proof of association with any organization.
BJP Yuva Morcha demonstrated
The political temperature has also increased due to the gang rape incident. BJP Yuva Morcha activists burnt tires on the road while demonstrating outside Kasba police station. When the police tried to extinguish the fire, BJP workers stopped them, which led to a clash. After this, the police had to do light lathicharge and many BJP workers were detained.
