Harbhajan said that Shubman’s dedication to the game and calm nature will make him a better leader. Bhajji said that, it is a matter of pride for me that the young player of Punjab was first made the captain in the Test format. Then now he was also made captain in ODI cricket.

BCCI withdraws ODI cricket captaincy from Rohit Sharma

Let me tell you that, on the previous day, BCCI took away the captaincy of India’s ODI team from Rohit Sharma and Gill was given the responsibility in his place. The Indian team, declared for the three ODI series against Australia, consists of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, but captain Shubman Gill has been made.

Gill is already the captain of the Test team. Rohit and Virat played the last ODI against New Zealand in the final of the Champions Trophy on March 9 this year. Team India will play 3 ODIs and 5 T20s on Australia tour. The first ODI will be played on 19 October in Perth.

Gill has played 55 ODIs so far

Shubman Gill has played 55 ODIs so far. In this, he has scored 2775 runs with the help of 8 centuries. The average is 59.04 and the strike rate is 99.56. Gill does not have much experience of captaincy in a 50 -over format. He has captained 6 matches in cricket. In this, his team managed to win in five. Gill has not captained till date in ODI International.
