Abid Ali, 83, breathed his last in California, USA. His relative Reza Ali has given this information through social media. The former all -rounder played 29 Tests and 5 ODIs for India in the 1960s and 1970s. Abid Ali was a fast bowler, who also used to do batting well.

Abid Ali of Hyderabad played the first Test match against Australia in 1967. He took 6 wickets in this Test played in Brisbane. Apart from this, he scored a winning run in India’s historic victory in the Oval Test against England in 1971. Abid Ali took 47 wickets in 27 Tests and also scored 1018 runs. He was also one of the best fielders of his time.

Abid Ali took 7 wickets in 5 ODIs and scored 93 runs. He played 3 matches for India in the first ODI World Cup 1975 and took 6 wickets. Abid Ali was also known as ‘Chichha’. Abid Ali was also the coach of Maldives and the UAE cricket. He also gave coaching to Andhra Ranji team.
