Members of the Pakistan World Alliance (PWA), an Advockese Group established in December last year, have announced the nomination of Imran Khan, who is also a member of the Norwegian political party party Sentrum.
The party Sentrum said on the X on Sunday, ‘We are happy to announce on behalf of the party Sentrum that former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for his work with human rights and democracy in Pakistan.
At the same time, in 2019, Imran Khan was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts to promote peace in South Asia.
Winners will be declared after eight months
According to the Express Tribune report, every year the Norwegian Nobel Committee receives hundreds of nominations, after which they select the winner through a long process of eight months.
Imran Khan, who is also the founder of Pakistan’s main opposition party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party and has been in jail since August 2023.
In January this year, Khan was sentenced to 14 years in jail in a case related to misuse of power and corruption. This was the fourth major case in which the former Prime Minister has been convicted. However, Imran Khan has dismissed all the allegations against him and said that all these cases are inspired by politics.
Government fell in 2022
