From terrorism to peace on the border … Consent between India and China on these issues, Ministry of External Affairs gave information

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Chinese President Xi Jinping on Sunday (August 31, 2025) at the annual summit of Shanghai Cooperation Sangathan (SCO) held in Tianjin city of China. During the meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussed many global issues including terrorism, border disputes and trade.

India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri shared information about the discussion on the meeting of PM Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping at a press conference on Sunday (31 August 2025). Vikram Egyptian said that during a conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned terrorism across the border. He said that maintaining peace and harmony on the border is like insurance for the overall development of relationships. The situation on the border will be reflected on overall relations in some form or the other.

Jinping gave suggestions to improve bilateral relations- Egyptian

The Foreign Secretary said, ‘Modi and Xi believed that differences between India and China should not be allowed to change into controversy. At the same time, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the need for peace and harmony in the border areas for continuous and smooth development of relations. Apart from this, Chinese President Xi Jinping gave four suggestions to further improve bilateral relations during talks with Prime Minister Modi. There was a consensus on the fact that stable and cordial India-China relations can benefit 2.8 billion people of both countries.
