Gen -Z Protest Firing Case: Nepal’s former PM Deuba passport canceled, prohibited leaving Kathmandu including Oli – NEPAL GEN Z Protest Violence Kp Sharma Oli Passport Cancel Judicial Commission NTC

The judicial commission, set up to investigate the firing on young protesters during Nepal’s Gen-Z movement, has stopped five prominent persons, including former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, from leaving Kathmandu without permission. This commission, constituted under the chairmanship of retired Justice Gauri Bahadur Karki of the Supreme Court, issued this directive. Instructions have been given to cancel passports of many leaders including KP Oli.

These five people in the order of the Commission include former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, former Home Minister Ramesh writer, then Home Secretary Gokarna Mani Duwadi, Hut Raj Thapa, Head of Internal Intelligence Department, and Chitra Rizal, the then District Magistrate of Kathmandu. On all these, the Commission has directed not to go out of Kathmandu without strict monitoring and without the permission of the Commission.

Along with this, the Commission also ordered the Nepal Police, Armed Swargi Force and National Research Department to monitor the activities of these five persons and report daily. The Commission said that this step is necessary to ensure a fair investigation into the violence during the Gen-Z movement.

KP Oli’s passport will be canceled

The judicial commission also ordered the suspension of these persons. Under this, instructions have been given to suspend passports of five people including former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and former Home Minister Ramesh writer and many have been canceled. Apart from this, it was also directed to cancel the recently released new passport by former Prime Minister Sherbahadur Deuwa and former Foreign Minister Dr. Arju Deuwa.

According to sources, the Deuva couple were issued new passports on the day of national holiday on 19 September, which has now been canceled by the Commission. The commission clarified that this ban will continue till the investigation is completed and no person will be allowed to go out without permission.

Violence erupted in GEN-Z movement

Many young protesters were injured in the violence during the Gen-Z movement in Nepal, and the incident created a stir at the political and social level in the country. This step of the Judicial Commission has been taken with the aim of ensuring a fair investigation into incidents and bringing the culprits under the purview of action. The Commission believes that such monitoring and passport suspension can prevent any external pressure or attempt to escape in the investigation.
