Former Prime Minister of Nepal and President of Communist Party of Nepal (UML) KP Sharma Oli appeared on the public stage for the first time after resigning. He reached Bhaktapur on Saturday at the party’s student organization Rashtriya Yuva Sangh program. After heavy demonstrations, Oli left the post of Prime Minister on 9 September. After this, they were not coming to the public. KP Sharma Oli further said, “The current government is called ‘GEN-Z Sarkar’, which is neither formed under constitutional provisions, nor by public votes. It is made through sabotage and arson.”
Initially KP Oli was kept under the protection of the Nepal Army and later shifted to a temporary house. Now after the party meeting, he has come out again. It is believed that his presence is an attempt to join the youth and maintain a political grip.

Former Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli said, “The next day, on September 9, after the incident, I resigned at around 11 am. Unwanted incidents took place on the first day and my effort was not to extend it further but when I felt that there was nothing in my hand, I left the post, after this, the incidents of arson, sabotage and looting started.”
Oli had to resign
Oli had to withdraw from the post of Prime Minister due to Gen-Z violence and pressure. Amid the performance and arson, he was rescued from PM House via Belicopter. In his place, former Chief Justice Sushila Karki was made the interim Prime Minister. However, Oli says that he did not order the police to shoot, but the anger of the public erupted on his government.
Gen-Z revolution against corruption
The movement is now being called the “generation-zed revolution”. People are comparing this to the 2006 mass movement, which ended the power of King Gyanendra and made Nepal a republic. At present, Parliament is dissolved and elections are going to be held in March 2026 but protests are going on in Kathmandu and other major cities.

74 people died in Gen-Z Protest
In such a situation, political analysts are considering Oli’s return as an attempt to maintain his relevance. The movement, which started demanding transparency, ending corruption and withdrawing social media ban, took a fierce form. On that day, 21 protesters died, most of which were students. The next day 39 more deaths were recorded, in which 15 people were killed by severe burning. After this, 14 more people died in the next ten days. A total of 74 protesters have lost their lives so far.
