Michael Vaughan says that Shubman Gill can prove to be better than Virat Kohli under the captaincy. Vaughan said that the work done by Kohli alone can carry forward the trio of Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant and Yashasvi Jaiswal.
Michael Vaughan praised Shubman Gill.
Highlights
- Shubman Gill has a brilliant start as captain
- After becoming the captain, Gill’s batting is continuously leaving runs.
- Michael Vaughan described Gill, Pant and Jaiswal as a big player
Cricketer -turned -commentator Michael Vaughan said, ‘Gill, Jaiswal and Pant would have to take the Indian Test team forward in the same way that Virat Kohli used to do alone. I see that their group is playing correctly. They have a great chance that they have left the heritage in the same way as Virat Kohli has left for the Indian Test team. If these players can get the number one Test team status, Kohli’s energy and his influence for so long, then his work will be good.
Kohli and Rohit announced retirement from the Test before the tour of England and Vaughan said that India will always be full of talent but it is not easy to get a player like Kohli. Vaughan said, ‘You cannot suddenly move forward after two great players retiring or going out of the team. Shubman has made a brilliant start as captain and player. He is a great player. In the case of batting, I do not think the team will have to struggle a lot.
‘Shubman as captain can be better in this’
He said, ‘This is the competitive energy that brought in the Virat Test team. He brought the passion and enthusiasm you need. He was also very good strategically. However, Shubman as captain can be better in this. Given the depth of talents, Vaugan hopes that India will dominate Test cricket, which he has not been able to reach the finals in three Chakras despite reaching the final. I would like the bus team to be more constant. Given the talent in India, I would like the team that the team should be more competitive.
‘Not feeding Kuldeep is beyond comprehension’
Like many experts, von is also surprised to play fast bowler Jaspreet Bumrah in the second Test and not feeding spinner Kuldeep Yadav. He said, ‘Even after seven days of break, you are not feeding your best bowler. Not feeding Kuldeep is beyond comprehension. I do not understand why you do not want Kuldeep in the Test team. This is a Test match which lasts for five days and a leg spinner will be important. His record against England is excellent.
