In Bijnor district of Uttar Pradesh, a person has been accused of illegally recovering money from the general public by threatening fatwa. In this regard, a local resident Irshad has lodged a complaint with Sherkot police station. After which the police has taken action. The accused is being described as the Imam of the local mosque.
According to the information received, the complainant Irshad alleged that a person, named Zaki’s son Aijaz Khan, is originally a resident of Deoband (Saharanpur) and is currently living in Kaysthan locality of Sherkot town, forcibly recovering from people along with two other unidentified colleagues.
The complainant says that Zaki Khan threatens the people that if they do not give money, he will issue a fatwa against them. Due to this fear, he is forcibly asking for money from the local people. Irshad also says that the accused tried to forcibly ask for forcibly money from him and claimed that these money is being sent to Palestine for human help.
Irshad alleges that even before, he has recovered money by threatening many other people. He has demanded from the police station president that strict action should be taken against Zaki and his associates, so that the atmosphere of fear in the area can be eliminated.
After this development in the regional public, an atmosphere of concern is being seen. The police is now investigating this complaint and taking further action. According to people, Imam Zaki Khan said in a threat- “I will issue a fatwa against you for humanitarian assistance in Palestine.” At present, an FIR has been registered against the accused.
