Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate the Ganga bridge between Aanta (Mokama) to Simaria (Begusarai) on 22 August to the nation. The project includes the 1.865 km long Ganga bridge, which will directly connect Mokama (Patna) to Begusarai.
This new 6-lane bridge is built parallel to the old 2-lane rail-cum-road bridge ‘Rajendra Setu’. The Rajendra Setu, which is about seven decades, is currently under repair, due to which the movement of heavy vehicles is banned on it. These vehicles are forced to go through long. After opening the new bridge, such vehicles will get freedom from additional journey up to 100 km.
Savings in fuel and operational costs
This will make the movement between North Bihar (Begusarai, Supaul, Madhubani, Araria etc.) and South Bihar (Patna, Sheikhpura, Nawada, Lakhisarai etc.) easy and fast. Heavy vehicles will also save fuel and operating costs. This bridge will also facilitate access to the famous pilgrimage Simaria Dham. Simaria Dham is also the birthplace of famous poet Ramdhari Singh ‘Dinkar’.
Significantly, the foundation stone of this project was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Now its inauguration is considered to be the beginning of a new era of better contact and development for the state. This Ganga Bridge is not only an amazing example of engineering, but will also play an important role in speeding up the regional economy, increasing cultural importance and facilitating people’s journey.
Decreased distance will benefit
Let us know that this bridge has been built parallel to the old 2-lane Rajendra Setu. Rajendra Setu is about 70 years old and is closed for heavy vehicles due to repair. The new bridge will handle this burden. Also, decreasing distance will reduce fuel, save time and reduce operational expenses of vehicles.
