In Gorakhpur district of Uttar Pradesh, a woman was divorced by her husband on the phone. After this, the victim committed suicide after getting fed up with the in -laws’ dowry harassment. In this case, a sub-inspector who has not taken action on the complaint of the victim has been suspended and a departmental inquiry has been ordered against him.
According to PTI, her husband, who lives in Maharashtra on Monday evening near the victim woman Sania, was called, after which Sania went to her room and hanged himself. She came to her maternal home on Saturday.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Gaurav Grover suspended Sub-Inspector Jai Prakash Singh to fail to take action on a prior complaint of the victim’s family. According to police officials, according to Sania’s mother Asiya, she had approached the Chauri Chaura police station accusing her in -laws of dowry harassment.
But SI Jai Prakash Singh dismissed his complaint and refused to register a case. Later, an internal investigation led by Additional SP North Jitendra Kumar Srivastava confirmed that Sania had actually gone to the police station, but no case was registered. Taking this lapse seriously, the SSP ordered a departmental inquiry and suspended the Sub Inspector.
In this case, an FIR has been lodged against eight people including Sania’s husband Salauddin, a resident of Rasayani area of ​​Maharashtra. It is said in the FIR that Salauddin said three divorces from his wife Sania on the phone on Monday evening and also misbehaved during the call. Distressed by the incident, he committed suicide the same night.
The complainant said that his daughter married Salauddin on August 7, 2023 and dowry was given as per the demand of the family. However, Sania was repeatedly harassed by her husband, her mother Saira, Nand Asiya, Khushboo and Rosie and brother-in-law Jia-ul-Uddin and Balauddin. He said that despite many attempts to resolve the case, the harassment continued.
Accused Salauddin once made arrangements to live separately for Sania, but later left her. The complaint states that she returned to her maternal home in Gorakhpur on 26 April. Asiya said that Sania continued to send messages from her younger sister’s phone. Unable to deal with mental trauma, Sania took this step. Police said that a detailed investigation of the case is going on.
