Virendra Vashistha, a member and senior advocate of the Supreme Court Bar Association, has written a letter to the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), expressing concern over the inhuman behavior with the Indian migrants who were deported from the US. The letter said that recently Indian migrants sent from America were held in handcuffs and fetters and brought in an American military aircraft. This method is used only for dangerous criminals, which is a severe violation of fundamental human rights.
The lawyer said in his letter that deported Indians were kept in handcuffs and fetters during the entire journey, as if they were criminals, while their only crime was an illegal migration. Such a rigorous process increased people physical pain, mental trauma and emotional stress. According to the Human Rights Rules of the United Nations, this type of force on non-sensory persons is illegal. Without any safety threat, keeping deported people in handcuffs and fetters was derogatory, inhuman and inconsistent.

He demanded that NHRC conduct a thorough investigation into the matter and document the experiences of the affected people. He said that the Ministry of External Affairs should be urged to raise this issue in front of America and decide accountability. People returning to India should be given proper medical and mental assistance. This issue should be raised in front of human rights organizations so that such incidents do not happen in future.
Virendra Vasistha has appealed to NHRC to intervene immediately and protect the honor of Indian citizens. He said that it is unacceptable to keep non-sensitive deported people in handcuffs and fetters and should be strongly condemned.
104 people returned to India on Wednesday
