A strange incident came to light in Tamil Nadu when a person selling Pani Puri was issued summons under Section 70 of the Tamil Nadu Goods and Services Tax Act and Central GST Act. Report According to, the person received this summons on December 17, 2024. Under GST rules, businesses earning more than Rs 40 lakh annually have to register and follow tax rules.
These days the notice is also going viral on social media. The said notice contains instructions to the vendor to appear before the department in person. The person has been asked to submit financial documents related to his transactions for the last three years. The aim of the GST department officials is to check the income of the seller. The investigation will pay special attention to substantial payments received through digital platforms in the last financial year.
The notice received by the Pani Puri vendor also states that supplying goods or services without obtaining GST registration even after crossing the annual turnover limit of Rs 40 lakh is an offence. The notice is going viral on social media. Different comments from users are being seen on this. One user wrote that its cost is also included, some fixed charges are also included. All of them should be removed from the income.
