CBI court verdict in fake insuction claim scam: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court of Ahmedabad has convicted three accused in an old fake insurance claim case and sentenced a strict 5-5 years. The court has also imposed a total fine of Rs 35.30 lakh on these three. Among those who have been convicted, Kiku Bhai S.K. Dhodi, who was an assistant in the Silvassa branch of United India Insurance Company Limited, besides Vasant Bhai K. Patel and Apoorva Patel, both of them were private persons.
In 2004, fake insurance claim of Rs 62 lakh was scam
This case is of the year 2004. The CBI had registered the case on December 31, 2004, a total of 20 people were accused in this case. Which included both government officials and private persons. It was alleged that he together did a fake insurance claim scam of about 62 lakh rupees.
Fake insurance claims passed with the connivance of surveyor and officer
These people had filed 10 different fake fire insurance claims. It was said in all the claims that the stock of grass was burnt due to fire. In these cases, surveyors like Apoorva Patel prepared a fake report and Kikubhai Dhodi, an official of the United India Insurance Company, passed those reports.
How the truth came to the fore in CBI investigation,
The CBI investigation made it clear that only one of all 10 claims was passed in a fake way, which was of Vasantbhai Patel and it was taken from the insurance company 8,97,300. In this claim, Apoorva Patel made a false survey report and Vasant Patel withdrew money through a check.
But the shocking thing was that Vasant Patel was sign on the check, but Handriting Kikubhai Dhodi. This proved that Kikubhai played an active role in this scam to benefit his relative Vasantbhai.
CBI filed a charge sheet in 2007 after completing the investigation
The CBI filed a charge sheet against five accused on 31 December 2007 after completing the investigation of the case. The court found three people guilty after hearing and imposed a sentence of 5 years and a fine of 35.30 lakh.
