Taking action against the large -scale illegal construction in Chandola pond in Ahmedabad, the Crime Branch has arrested the main accused Lalla Pathan alias Lalla Bihari from Rajasthan. Lalla is alleged to have built 7 thousand illegal huts and houses by putting soil on about 3 lakh square meters of Chandola pond. Of these, 4 thousand constructions have been dropped so far.
Investigation revealed that Lalla had given shelter by renting these houses to Bangladeshis. He used to identify him by creating an Aadhaar card and rent agreement for Rs 20,000. Apart from this, he used to charge 20 rupees daily from every tenant for water and took 125 rupees per day for parking.
Crime Branch has received Rs 9 lakh cash, 250 grams of gold, money counting machine, fake documents and letterheads from his homes. Lalla has 4 houses and 4 vehicles.
Lalla’s son Fateh Mahmood has already been taken on remand. According to police, Lalla has 3 wives and 9 children. Lalla has already registered two cases. So far, the crime branch has introduced 200 Bangladeshis.
