In Surat city of Gujarat, police have arrested two such people, from whose possession high quality forged Indian currency notes (FICN) have been recovered from Bangladesh. The police is interrogating both the accused keeping fake notes. The police gave information about this seizure on Monday.
According to Surat police, one of the arrested accused, Suresh Lathidia, already has three cases related to fake notes, which are being investigated by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
Surat Special Campaign Group (SOG) said in a statement that Suresh Lathidia had bought fake notes worth Rs 6 lakh for Rs 2 lakh from a wanted accused in West Bengal, and the accused had bought these notes from Bangladesh.
The SOG official told PTI that on the basis of secret information, SOG officials raided an apartment in Punna area of ​​the city and arrested Vijay Chauhan (27) and Suresh Lathidia (55). Both are related to catering business.
SOG said that both had 18 fake notes of 500 rupees, which cost Rs 9,000. The accused used to change fake notes at vegetable and paan shops with real notes.
SOG said, “The accused claimed that they had bought fake notes worth Rs 6 lakh from Tahir Sheikh, resident of Malda, West Bengal, for Rs 2 lakh.” He said that the wanted accused in the case Tahir Sheikh had bought fake notes from Bangladesh.
According to SOG, apart from fake notes, the police have recovered a detector machine and some mobile phones. Along with this, Rs 1.03 lakh cash has also been recovered, which the accused had raised by changing fake notes.
