What is a hand-foot-mouth disease?
Dr. Rajneesh Joshi, Head and Professor of the General Medicine Department of AIIMS Bhopal, told Aajtak.in, ‘Hand-foot-mouthed disease is a viral disease with some dermatological reactions. This viral viral season is seen, as the weather that is going on after the rain, its cases are coming up in it. In this season, the proof of many viral illness increases slightly.
Hands and feet are a common viral infection that often starts from the throat. Most viral diseases are self -limiting, that is, they are cured on their own, but in 5 to 7 days, this disease can be completely eliminated. If someone is in isolation in viral disease, there are children, then do not keep them in contact with anyone, do not go to school, big people should avoid going to office. Keep washing hands If fever comes, you can take paracetamol after consulting a doctor. It can be fought with this disease in these easy ways.
How does a hand-foot-mouth disease spread?
Dr. Joshi said, this virus can spread from one person to another through droplets i.e. small air drops which come out when the sick person sneezes, coughing or cleaning the nose. If you can get this disease then:
- The infected person comes to you and sneezes or coughs.
- After touching an object infected with the virus such as a toy or door latch, touch your nose, eye or mouth.
- You touch the fluid emanating from an infected person.
If a person has this disease, then in the initial days he can spread very easily in others.
What are the symptoms of hand-foot-mouth disease?
After exposure to the infected person or virus, the symptoms may take about 3 to 7 days to appear. There are some common symptoms:
- Fever
- Headache
- loss of appetite
- Hand and feet blisters
- sore throat
- Grain on hands, feet and diaper area
- Throat (including tonsils), ulcers in mouth and tongue
How to avoid hand-foot-mouth disease?
If a symptom like pain in the neck or hands and feet is seen, contact your doctor. In some cases, body cramps may also occur. Even if high fever is not reduced, you should contact a doctor. Symptoms of dehydration appear, such as dry skin, weight phenomenon, irritability, lack of alertness, low urine, contact the doctor.
If someone has this disease, then avoid coming in contact with them. Wash your hands well and again and again, especially if you are in touch with sick people. Teach children to wash your hands well and again and again.
